Concert Review: The Minks

The energy is high, everyone in the Vinyl at Center Stage in Atlanta is buzzing with excitement for this Nashville-native band to come on stage. As the fans move closer to the stage, I’m now very aware that the show is about to begin and I need to be ready for what I’m about to experience. The lights go dark, and The Minks enter the stage lively and ready to put on a spectacular show.

The frontwoman of the band, Nikki Barber, came onto the stage with her electric guitar ready, and her vocals prepared for the night. She led the entire night well through her ease and comfortability on stage as the entire band performed their newest album, “Creatures of Culture,” which was released on March 3, 2023.

The Minks performed many songs that night, and two of which stuck out to me the most as top favorites. The first of which is “Creatures of Culture,” which is the song that their album is named after. They performed this song with so much grit and energy that it lit the entire venue up in screaming and dancing, and it easily became one of the best moments of the show for me. The second song that ended up being a favorite was “Sweet Treat,” this track started slow and subtle and then turned into a great bang of a song that led to an incredible build-up for the crowd.

One thing that was obvious from the start of the performance was that these Band Members sure knew how to get the crowd involved in the show, and it is one of the best qualities a performer can have these days. You can feel the music in a way that not every performer can do for the crowd, and it just shows the professionalism of this band.

In my eyes, The Minks are a band that should have a lot more eyes on them, and in the future, I feel as though they will. With the skillset that each member has, along with the great tracks they seem to be able to produce and get out into the world, this band is unstoppable. So, I recommend checking them out, and getting on The Minks train quickly because it is about to take off.
